First Visit

Brief Paperwork

Upon entering our office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about you and your condition.

Consultation

Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with Dr. Day to discuss your health-related problems and concerns, as well as potential treatment options.

History & Examination

In order to determine what your actual problem is, Dr. Day will ask you various questions related to your condition. Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

X-Rays, Computerized Testing and Other Studies

Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays or order other studies to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Computerized range of motion and muscle testing studies are usually performed on the second and third visits.

Treatment

Once finished with the examination and all appropriate studies, patients may be provided with their first treatment during this same visit. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapies, and/or soft tissue therapies. Please note that there are times when first visit treatment options will be limited until necessary test findings and analysis have been completed. We pride ourselves in putting your health and safety above all else.

Total Time of First Visit

Depending on the nature of your specific health needs and the amount of diagnostic tests to be performed, your first visit will take approximately one hour.

Home Instructions

Prior to leaving, patients will be given instructions on certain activities or procedures to be conducted at home. This may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.

Products

There are certain products that may enhance the healing process. These may include muscle relaxants, analgesic gels, nutritional supplements, orthopedic pillows and supports, cold/hot packs, foot orthotics and others. Schedule Your Next Appointment

You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally speaking, patients are seen within 1-2 days. At the end of all in-house diagnostic testing, a complete report of findings will be given and treatment options for your condition will be discussed during this time.

Medical Referrals

There are times when other physicians are needed. We have a great referral relationship within the community and work closely with medical doctors, osteopaths, orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, pain management specialists and other health professionals to bring the most specific and necessary health care to you.

Diagnostic Imaging Centers

Occasionally patients need to be referred out for additional diagnostic imaging such as MRI’s, CT Scans, Ultrasound, Bone Scans or other studies. We have several local imaging centers in the area that can provide us with these diagnostic studies. They will assist you in helping to obtain proper insurance authorization in a timely manner prior to the test.
